17th Annual Freedom Award Luncheon

Celebrating Courage, Justice and Freedom at De Paul’s 17th Annual Freedom Awards Luncheon

Portland, OR. De Paul Treatment Centers welcomed over 300 guests on September 28th to the 17th Annual Freedom Awards Luncheon at the Governor Ballroom. De Paul presented Mary Monnat with the Samuel C. Wheeler Freedom Award, an honor given to those who help battle the stigma of addiction by being open about their recovery and giving back to the community in meaningful ways. In addition to the Freedom Award, De Paul introduced two new awards this year: the Courage Award and the Justice Award. De Paul presented the Baker Family and Friends with the Courage Award, an honor given to those who despite the stigma, hopelessness, and many other challenges of addiction, never give up in support of individuals throughout the recovery process. Judge Amy Holmes Hehn was presented the Justice Award, an honor given to those who foster safe and healthy communities and tear down the barriers caused by the stigma of addiction. The 17th Annual Freedom Awards Luncheon raised over $215,000 for the De Paul Youth & Family Center through sponsorships, tickets, and in room gifts. All event proceeds will go toward De Paul’s lifesaving addiction treatment programs for youth ages 13 to 17, funding the gap between the cost of treatment and what is covered by the Oregon Health Plan.
