De Paul Treatment Centers’ 18th Annual Freedom Awards luncheon brings together a diverse audience of community members, businesses, elected officials, and non-profits to talk about addiction, celebrate recovery, and support De Paul’s treatment programs for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The event recognizes prominent community members who support and work toward ending the stigma of addiction. De Paul’s 2017 award recipients are:
With over 21 years in recovery, Jay and his wife Duff found sobriety together in order to support their teenage son through his own recovery process. Jay’s story is one of a family’s incredible resilience and commitment to a life in recovery from addiction. A retired highway contractor, Jay has served on De Paul’s Board of Directors since 2004.
The Samuel C. Wheeler Freedom Award honors those who help battle the stigma of addiction by sharing their story of recovery and giving back to the community in meaningful ways.
Devarshi Bajpai serves as the Medicaid and Addictions Services Senior Manager for Multnomah County. Devarshi’s collaborative approach and commitment to a recovery-oriented system of care has strengthened the provider community and positively impacts those who seek addiction treatment across Multnomah County.
The Advocacy Award honors those who help foster healthy communities by demonstrating outspoken support for addiction treatment access and quality.
